A HOMAGE TO A CRUSADER TILL THE LAST !
Shri R P Goswami Ji, A Great Noble Soul –Heartfelt condolences and Respectful Tributes.
Passing away of our Most Respected Friend and Comrade Shri R P Goswami Ji is the Most Shocking News to all of us and particularly Bank Pensioners and Retirees Community. He was a Courageous Soldier of Bank Employees and Officers Movement and Respected by all of us as “Loyalty ,Thy Name is Goswami “. He was also a Gem as an Ardent IOBIAN and a Role Model for many of us as to how to serve the Bank and also fight for Justice as a True Trade Unionist.
I Most Respectfully remember him for the way he enthused and inspired me to fight for Pension for Bankers during 1970s when any one talking about Pension in Banks used to be ridiculed . I humbly dedicate my Proud Privilege of signing the Bank Pension Settlement in 1993 under the Legendary Leaders Late Comrades R N Godbole Ji and S R Sengupta Ji to the memory of Shri R P Goswami Ji.
Again when ARISE decided to file Writ Petition in the Hon’ble Delhi High Court in 2010, we approached Shri Goswami Ji to become the First Petitioner along with Com. J B Jain ,where later on ARISE became an Impleading Party. Credit certainly goes to this Petition where for the first time in the history of Banking Industry, Updation of Pension quoting the now Famously and Convincingly and with total Conviction talked about Regulation 35.1 is mentioned as the main ground in the prayer before the Hon’ble High Court. Along with that 100% DA and the Anomaly of 7th Bipartite Settlement (1998) regarding different DA Index merger for Basic Pay and Basic Pension were also the issues raised. Out of the three issues, DA and Basic Pay and Basic Pension were resolved ,though painfully Updation of Pension is yet to see the light of Resolution and Judicial Pronouncement. Only about Four Months back he had to sign some paper in respect of the Petition at the age of 90 and despite his Chronic age related Ailments. He was a regular participant in all our Retirees meetings and Jantar Demonstrations despite age and distance he had to cover from Faridabad .
I feel very guilty for not able to clinch the rightful and legal entitlement of Updation of Pension during his life time as also many others who left the world without getting Updation of Pension and suffering deprivation and gross Discrimination. We as an Organisation have lot to explain. The Government, IBA, Judiciary and UFBU have got lot more to explain for the Injustice inflicted on Great Souls like Shri Singla Ji and Goswami Ji .They should search their hearts as to how and why they could behave like this.
I Most Respectfully pay my Tributes to Shri Goswami Ji for all his Most Valuable Contributions to the Trade Union Movement and Bank Pensioners and Retirees Movement.
I pray God Almighty to give Eternal Peace to the Noble Soul of Shri R P Goswami Ji.
My Heartfelt Condolences to his Children and family.
Comrade Goswami Ji
Amar Rahe .
Om Shanti Om.
With Very Heavy Heart and Profound Grief,
Acharya K. V.
